Level of participation:
very high
Level of Difficulty to Facilitate:
No specific skills required
Facilitator Personality Fit:
The facilitator needs to keep this one light and in good humour.
Setting and Materials:
Five or six types of finger foods of different texture such as potato chips, cranberry sauce, cashews, ginger snaps, cheese nips, garbanzo beans (Chickpeas), papads, egg rolls, fried pork skins, sushi, etc. There needs to be enough of each food for each person.
Resources Needed:
A saucer for every other person. Paper towels or napkins.
Pre-Work Required:
Place some of each of the foods in each saucer
Procedures:

Steps
1) Prepare at least five or so finger foods, each with a different crunch. For example: cranberry sauce, cashews, ginger snaps, cheese nips, and garbanzo beans.
2) Place each food in small saucers. There should be enough saucers for every other chewer-to-be (half the group).
3) Give every other person a saucer. Declare these people the Chewers, and the persons to their right Partners.
4) The Partner faces their Chewer and places an ear to the Chewer's cheek. The partner, in order to concentrate, should close their eyes.
5) The Chewer takes a small piece of one of the foods, and chews as necessary.
6) The goal, if one is needed, would be to identify:
-- a. What is being chewed, and perhaps
-- b. How much of it, along with
-- c. Some estimate of swallow duration.
7) Reverse roles and repeat.

Note
Or perhaps both Partner and Chewer both chew and listen at the same time whilst simultaneously attempting to identify what the other is eating.

Estimated duration: 3-8 minutes. Activity is often left incomplete due to hilarious incapacitance.
